JPMorganChase commends bipartisan, bicameral momentum in Congress to improve housing affordability in urban, rural, and suburban communities across the country.

Too many families, especially those earning entry-level wages and aspiring first-time homebuyers, continue to struggle to find affordable housing near stable jobs, quality schools, and essential amenities. While states and localities continue to make meaningful progress, including on land use and zoning, expedited permitting, and building code modernization, today’s affordability challenges demand strong, coordinated federal action.

Both chambers of Congress have advanced bipartisan housing proposals to help expand housing affordability, streamline development processes, and improve pathways to homeownership for families across the income spectrum. The bipartisan support across the House and Senate signals strong momentum to tackle the nation’s housing affordability challenges, particularly as entry-level and workforce housing options have become harder to find.

JPMorganChase has long supported the creation and preservation of affordable housing—an essential pillar of the American dream—through lending, investing, insights and expertise.

We continue to support efforts that improve affordability nationwide and have previously supported several provisions currently under consideration in both chambers of Congress, including the Accelerating Home Building Act, the Housing Supply Expansion Act, and the Helping More Families Save Act. These and other provisions can incentivize pro-growth housing policies, streamline costly and time-intensive federal review processes, and strengthen effective housing programs.

We look forward to continuing our work with lawmakers to strengthen proposed housing legislation and advance solutions that unlock access to affordable housing.
