As Glasgow Tech Week 2025 unfolded, JPMorganChase proudly played a pivotal role in fostering innovation and collaboration within the tech community. Our Glasgow Technology Centre became a hub of activity, hosting a series of events that brought together industry leaders, tech enthusiasts, students, and entrepreneurs. Here's a recap of the exciting week!
Building resilient engineering teams
The week kicked off with an insightful session on Building Resilient Engineering Teams, led by Douglas Paton and Chris Skaaning, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Leads at JPMorganChase. The session was designed to transform the perception of tech incidents and support tickets from setbacks to opportunities for growth. Attendees explored how SRE practices can revolutionize engineering culture, focusing on reliability and continuous improvement.
Key topics included the significance of Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) in assessing service health. These tools help teams to prioritize tasks more effectively amidst external pressures. The session also emphasized transparency around incidents and issues, fostering trust with stakeholders and customers. Participants left with a deeper understanding of how embracing feedback can refine processes, enhance services, and cultivate a resilient, customer-centric engineering culture.
“Presenting at Glasgow Tech Week was an exhilarating experience! It was a joy to reconnect with fellow participants after the main event and share insights.” Chris said. “As a participant, I discovered incredible developments happening in and around Glasgow. Attending various events, I was truly impressed by the groundbreaking innovations across diverse industries. The creativity and innovations showcased were nothing short of remarkable!”
