Our clients are building the infrastructure the world needs, from generation and storage to grid resilience. We help move projects from concept to construction by advising on deals, arranging funding, and structuring investments that aim to keep energy reliable and affordable.

How we help clients build

We bring together strategic advice, structuring expertise and capital solutions to help clients finance and build essential energy infrastructure and to help them advance their business and sustainability goals, including reducing emissions over time.

What we do:

  • Advising clients on transactions and project pathways that can accelerate delivery
  • Arranging and structuring financing to support buildout at scale
  • Supporting solutions that enable secure, affordable and resilient systems, including lower-carbon energy supply and the technologies that help clients reduce emissions

Our financing initiatives

Our flagship initiatives facilitate investment into the industries and infrastructure critical to economic security and resilient energy systems.

  • $2.5 Trillion Sustainable Development Target (SDT), including $1T for Green. Our SDT aims to help catalyze sustainable economic growth around the world. Within it, the $1 trillion Green objective supports low-carbon energy systems, clean technologies and activities that promote climate resilience and sustainable resource management. It also captures energy supply activities included within the Low-Carbon boundaries of our Energy Supply Financing Ratio (ESFR), such as financing for the grid and nuclear, as well as for the low-carbon energy at diversified power companies. Since 2021 we have financed and/or facilitated more than $500 billion in low-carbon energy.
  • $1.5 Trillion Security & Resiliency Initiative (SRI)
A decade-long target to finance and invest in industries critical to national economic security, including energy infrastructure, critical minerals, advanced manufacturing and defense.

We also work to help clients achieve their strategic goals with forward-looking insights, as they build, adapt, and grow across every part of the energy system.

In addition, our carbon intensity targets help us to develop insights into how our clients are approaching the energy transition within their sectors and businesses and engage with them to find financing solutions to support their ambitions.

Sustainable operations can help increase efficiency, lower costs, and improve workplace environments.

Our approach continues to be guided by the concept of the greenhouse gas ("GHG") mitigation hierarchy, designed to prioritize actions that avoid and reduce emissions before those that remove or compensate for them.

We take steps to manage the environmental footprint of our operations and supply chain including measuring and reporting our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. For more information on our operational GHG emissions, see here.

We seek to construct more sustainable buildings and manage our energy and carbon footprint, like purchasing renewable energy for our global electric power needs. We also implement sustainable sourcing practices. By better managing resources and reducing waste, we seek to manage our environmental footprint while supporting the efficiency of our operations.

To complement our efforts around avoiding and reducing emissions, we seek to buy and retire high-quality carbon credits, which also helps scale the global voluntary carbon market. Learn more about JPMorganChase's approach to helping strengthen the voluntary carbon market here.

Substantial policy action will be required to address the structural barriers holding back energy investment. Sound, durable public policy provides the stable framework businesses need to invest, innovate, and create jobs. We are championing practical policies that can advance affordable, secure, and reliable solutions to the world's energy and environmental challenges:

Grid Modernization

A resilient, modern electric grid is essential for energy security and economic growth — and grid modernization unlocks significant commercial opportunity for our firm and our clients. We support policies that promote grid efficiency, shorten the path from development to operation, and provide clearer, durable investment signals for new technologies.

Permitting Reform

Streamlined permitting — across federal, regional and state lines — could accelerate deal flow, from grid upgrades to data center power systems to resilient real estate.

Supply Chain Resilience

We support policies that incentivize strategic U.S. domestic production — from electrical steel and transformers to midstream battery processing — and provide durable demand signals across the public and private sectors.

Workforce Development

Every infrastructure investment depends on having people who can build it. We support expanded vocational training, industry-education partnerships, and policies that treat workforce development as an enabler of energy infrastructure buildout.
