A version of the below message was sent to all employees from the Operating Committee.
We are heartbroken to witness the tragic and growing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. Our thoughts are with the innocent civilians who are suffering, and those individuals and families in neighboring countries and around the world who have been impacted. Nearly 500,000 people have already fled the country according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and that number is expected to climb into the millions.
To support humanitarian relief efforts, JPMorganChase is making an initial $1 million philanthropic contribution. Given how rapidly events are unfolding on the ground, the firm is actively considering where to deploy our resources to best meet the growing and changing needs. We know many of our employees are looking for ways to contribute, so the firm has also launched an employee matching campaign and will match employee donations dollar-for-dollar to select humanitarian relief organizations to maximize our collective impact.
We recognize that the violence and suffering taking place in Ukraine have implications for us all, especially our colleagues who have family and friends experiencing the impacts of this tragedy firsthand. We remain focused on their wellbeing and safety. As a firm, we support efforts to bring peace to the region, and will continue to monitor the situation and stay in touch with employees in affected areas.
