Matthew Keating is a Senior Associate at the Center for Geopolitics at JPMorganChase, where he covers the Center's energy and defense vertical and supports the Center’s client strategy and external engagements.
Prior to joining JPMorganChase, Matthew served as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, where he helped execute the Pentagon’s defense diplomacy with over 120 countries, including the Department’s response to the war in Ukraine, the conflict in the Middle East, and America's engagement with NATO and African partners.
He previously held roles at the U.S. State Department, including as a Special Advisor at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, and worked at the U.S. Embassy in Paris and the Secretary of State’s crisis operations cell.
Prior to entering government service, Matthew served as a speechwriter for a UN Special Rapporteur and as a teaching assistant to Ambassador Nicholas Burns, helping design his course at Harvard on great-power competition.
A native of Maryland, he holds degrees from Harvard College and Magdalen College, Oxford.
