Makaila Ranges

Associate

Makaila Ranges serves as an Associate on the Center for Geopolitics team, she conducts research and contributes to analysis on geopolitical and geoeconomic developments, with a focus on Russia-Ukraine, Eastern Europe, Canada, technology, and strategic competition. Makaila also provides analytical and programmatic support for the firm’s International Council.

Makaila previously consulted with McLarty Associates’ International Trade team, delivering Asia- and Europe-focused analysis on economic, trade, and investment trends and their geopolitical and regulatory implications. She has also covered geopolitical, trade, and regulatory developments across China, Taiwan, Europe, and South America, translating complex policy shifts (including AI regulation and critical minerals) into decision-ready guidance. Makaila began her career as a political appointee in the Biden-Harris administration at the White House Office of Management and Budget.

Makaila holds a BA in Government and Biology from Franklin & Marshall College and an MA in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University. She speaks Spanish and is learning Chinese.
