Making Opportunity Happen Across the UK

Through our partnerships with nonprofit organisations like the Sutton Trust, Generation UK, and the Social Mobility Foundation , we’re helping young people and adults get the skills and opportunities they need to succeed in the job market… and take their careers to the next level.

The United Kingdom is working to build a stronger economy, and that requires adaptable, resilient individuals who are ready to enter the job market and adjust to its changing needs. To get a head start on their professional lives, young people need the resources, internships, apprenticeships and other opportunities that will help them, and in turn the UK economy, thrive. As a major employer with over 22,000 employees and 200 years of impact in market – that’s where JPMorganChase comes in.

The firm is investing in skills and training programmes with philanthropic organisations right across the UK. Because growing our business, communities and the whole economy starts with growing people first. Through our partnerships with nonprofit organisations like the Sutton Trust, Generation UK, and the Social Mobility Foundation , we’re helping young people and  adults get the skills and opportunities they need to succeed in the job market… and take their careers to the next level.

Programmes like the Sutton Trust provide students with tuition relief to allow them to explore their passions and potential career paths outside of the classroom - a luxury otherwise not possible for students that work full time to cover tuition expenses. Other programmes, like the Social Mobility Foundation and Generation, are designed to help students learn about and experience different career paths through mentorship and real, on-the-job training.  In all cases, we’re helping to break down the barriers keeping some of the UK’s most promising workers from the jobs they need to build their careers, their lives, and their economy.

And some of those programmes happen right here at JPMorganChase. Our Aspiring Professionals Programme, which we run in collaboration with the Social Mobility Foundation, gives young experience working with the firm, as well as the mentoring and skill-building training that they need to advance their careers. Since its launch in 2012, the programme has helped 850 young people. And the impact has been promising: 94 percent of the programme’s students have gone on to pursue undergraduate degrees and 86 percent began full-time employment at JPMorganChase and other firms after graduation.

Since 2019, JPMorganChase has invested £35 million to developing skills and training opportunities in the UK, and last year the firm announced its latest investments - £24 million over the next five years to create career opportunities in the UK.  Since 2018, we have helped over 20,000 people build their skills and employability, and have connected over 9,800 people with apprenticeships and jobs. And we have not done this alone—through our partnerships, we’ve worked with nonprofit organizations and 160 other employers to support youth enterprise opportunities in the UK.

Building a thriving, resilient economy will require the hard work and dedication of the UK’s best and brightest. Through its efforts, JPMorganChase is working to ensure that young workers get their chance to do their part—regardless of the barriers they face.
