Director of Financial Markets Research
Kanav Bhagat is a Director of Research for the JPMorgan Chase Institute, focused on Financial Markets. Previously, he served as the Global Head of Rates Trading at J.P. Morgan, where he managed a global team of 150 traders who were responsible for the trading, risk-management, and capital management of securities, interest rate swaps, options, and exotics in G10 interest rate markets. Kanav was a key part of the Macro Products Trading Management Team (comprised of Rates, FX, Emerging Markets, and Commodities Trading), and has a broad set of experiences across the major fixed income markets. In this role, he was a key advisor to many of J.P. Morgan's priority institutional clients, including asset managers, insurance companies, banks, and hedge funds.
Prior to this engagement, Kanav was the Global Head of Non-Linear Trading, and previously the Global Head of Interest Rate Options Trading. He joined J.P. Morgan in 2006 to run the North America Interest Rate Options Trading Desk. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, he held the same position at Credit Suisse. Kanav began his career in financial markets at Lehman Brothers in 1998, where he traded USD interest rate options.
Kanav earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the University Of Chicago Graduate School Of Business. He is originally from Silver Spring, Maryland.
