This year, we will focus on heavy oil — an increasingly important resource given the constraints on conventional oil supplies — yet one that is challenging to recover and process economically. Like previous Symposiums, the purpose of this event is to educate our clients on the opportunities and challenges of this important aspect of the energy market.
The program will begin with a global heavy oil resource assessment by renowned expert Dr. William Fisher, Professor and Leonidas T. Barrow Centennial Chair in Mineral Resources at the University of Texas. We are also pleased to have Luis Giusti, Senior Advisor, Center for Strategic & International Studies, and former Chairman of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) as this year ’s luncheon keynote speaker. For the main program, we have assembled a group of operating executives who are responsible for some of the most challenging, yet promising, projects.
